Ending the Cycle is individual and couple treatment for domestic violence. After a thorough evaluation, a program of anger management is created for the violent partner. When appropriate, marital therapy is provided for couples choosing to remain together to prevent future violence and to solve critical issues.EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) - A method of psychotherapy that has helped relieve many types of psychological distress. When a person is very upset, their brain does not process information as it does ordinarily. One moment becomes "frozen in time", and remembering may have a lasting negative effect. EMDR helps a person see disturbing material or "remember" in a new and less disturbing way. EMDR has been established as effective for post traumatic stress. Success has been reported using EMDR in treatment of the following conditions:
- personality disorders
- eating disorders
- panic attacks
- performance anxiety
- complicated grief
- stress reduction
- dissociative disorders
- addictions
- disturbing memories
- phobias
- body dysmorphic disorders
- pain disorders
- sexual and/or physical abuse
Prepare/Enrich Program is a customized couple assessment used for premarital counseling, marriage preparation, and marriage enrichment. This program identifies a couple's strengths and growth areas and is designed to help couples improve their relationship skills.
Spirituality and Counseling
One of the hallmarks of the Samaritan Ministry is treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. In the last two decades, an overwhelming amount of scientific research has demonstrated the very strong inter-relationship between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of human beings. This research is finding that spiritually active persons are healthier physically, emotionally and relationally!
Our therapy is sensitive to spirituality and we are able to include Christian faith, biblical insights and spiritual resources in counseling. We believe that spirituality is often a powerful healing instrument for clients.
We also help clients work with spiritual concerns such as:
- A loss of faith
- Guilt feelings
- An inability to forgive
- Anger with God
- Faith differences with a partner
- Moral dilemmas
- Spiritual Hunger
- Painful religious history.
Our therapists work within a client’s faith framework and it is our policy never to impose our beliefs on others. A person does not have to be religious to seek our services.
