Roy Thomas - LCSW

Roy Thomas, LCSW has provided Marriage & Family Therapy as a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) for twenty (20) years. He has worked as a therapist in institutions, private agencies, outpatient mental health facilities and in private practice. In these various settings, Roy worked primarily with older children, adolescents, adults and families from diverse backgrounds in individual, family, couple and group therapy formats. Roy describes his approach to therapy as follows:

"Professional therapy should be rendered in a confidential manner, while engaging participants through positive and motivating communications that are rooted in respect. This belief system and use of theoretical perspectives such as cognitive-behavioral, structural and functional family therapies, have improved the therapeutic process and client outcomes in my clinical practice as a therapist. Moreover, allowing clients to use with comfort their spiritual belief and coping, is a focus that, I believe, empowers the therapeutic process and leads to fulfilling client change.”

Roy has served as an adjunct professor and taught a human behavior course. He has also provided numerous public trainings in the areas of substance abuse and disease prevention, treatment and coping.  He is also a writer and has authored materials related to the above-mentioned topics.  Roy, his spouse and daughter have been active participants of the Christian faith most of their lives.
