When the Samaritan ministry was started in Elkhart, Indiana in the early 1970’s, one of its hallmark beliefs was the biblical perspective of treating the whole person- mind, body and spirit. As the 21st Century dawned, this holistic perspective regained popularity. However, it disregarded conventional wisdom and generally ignored the spiritual altogether! THE MISSION CONTINUES
The Samaritan program began in Elkhart, Indiana in 1972 when a physician, two parish pastors, and a seminary professor observed that by working together, ministers, therapists, and physicians were very effective in helping people with stressrelated problems.
