Spiritual Counseling

One of the hallmarks of the Samaritan Center is treating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. In the last two decades, an overwhelming amount of scientific research has demonstrated the very strong inter-relationship between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of human beings. This research is finding that spiritually active persons are healthier physically, emotionally and relationally!

Our therapy is sensitive to spirituality and we are able to include Christian faith, biblical insights and spiritual resources in counseling for those who desire it, but it is never a requirement. We respect and honor each client’s spiritual journey, and any integration of faith or spirituality in the counseling process is based on the client’s beliefs and preferences. We believe that spirituality is often a powerful healing instrument for clients.

With the integration of spiritual counseling we can help clients work with spiritual concerns such as:

  • Loss of faith

  • Guilt feelings

  • Forgiveness and compassion

  • Anger with God

  • Faith differences with a partner

  • Moral dilemmas

  • Spiritual Hunger

  • Painful religious history

  • Exploration of meaning and purpose

  • Identifying a source of hope

  • Finding support in spiritual communities

Through spiritual counseling you will learn how to navigate your spiritual journey, find meaning and purpose in life, and heal from spiritual pain. Our therapists work within the client’s faith framework. It is our policy to never impose our beliefs on clients.

A person does not have to be religious to seek our services.
